To be torn is to exist in two places at once, pulled in different directions, neither fully here nor fully there. Torn was painted from that feeling: the raw, honest discomfort of being caught between, and the strange beauty that lives in that in-between space.

Moulding paste was applied in thick, deliberate layers, building real physical depth across the surface. It was worked in constantly shifting directions, no single stroke allowed to settle, the paste pushed and pulled and redirected, creating ridges and valleys that catch the light differently from every angle. This is a painting you can feel as much as see.

Into that textured foundation, spray paints were laid down; bold and immediate, filling the raised surface with raw colour and energy. Acrylics followed, worked into the peaks and crevices of the paste. Inks were then introduced and flooded with water, bleeding freely across the canvas, carried by gravity and chance into forms that couldn't have been planned. The water did its own work: dispersing, diluting, pulling colour into unexpected places. Each medium pushed against the others, and the tension between them ,the continuous change in direction became the painting itself.

An original mixed media work on box-stretched canvas unframed and ready to hang. A piece for anyone who knows what it feels like to be pulled in more than one direction, and finds something true in that.
