Built up instinctively in layers of acrylic on canvas, this piece draws from the full spectrum of nature's palette. As the layers built, natural forms began to emerge and were shaped with intention, the curve of a wing marked out with a confident stroke, the silhouette of a bird defined against a wash of colour, leaves and botanicals distinguished from the background through careful shaping and line. Each natural element was drawn out from the painting rather than placed into it, as if they were always there, waiting to be found.
